In this course, you will work with porcelain, natural finds, and simple reclaimed materials to create unique, refined porcelain jewelry under the professional guidance of Marta Armada. You will learn how to build color, form, and texture, apply composition, and professionally finish and present your pieces.

You will go home with several personalized pieces of jewelry and a new perspective on porcelain as an artistic material.

This course is taught in English, but translation will be provided.

This workshop is focused on experimentation and analysis of the creative process during the elaboration of porcelain jewelry pieces.

We will analyze the different materials and working methods.

We will work in depth on the concept of design as a fundamental part of the creation of a piece of jewelry, as well as its staging.

We will look for different compositional solutions providing sustainable and creative solutions.

This masterclass takes place during ‘The Great Ceramics Summer Event’ in Duffel, Belgium We work outdoors under a luxurious stretch tent while enjoying the beautiful green surroundings We also have lunch outdoors. During summer event, there are still numerous activities and workshops. You can find the shedule here

Your teacher :

Marta Armada (Vigo, Spain, 1967) is an internationally renowned ceramic artist and jewelry designer. She studied ceramics in Vigo and Madrid and has built an impressive career focused on contemporary porcelain jewelry and small sculptures inspired by travel, personal experiences, and encounters between cultures.

ZShe has participated in artist-in-residence programs in China (Longquan, 2024; Jingdezhen, 2019 & 2023), at the Vista Alegre Porcelain Factory in Portugal and the Yingge Ceramic Museum in Taiwan, and has carried out projects in Australia, Tasmania, and Finland. Her work has been exhibited in, among others, China, Taiwan, Japan, Germany, Australia, Tasmania, and Canada.

Marta has received several international awards, including the Bronze Award at the Teapot Competition in Yixing (China, 2024), the Recommendation Prize at the Taiwan Ceramic Biennale (2020), and an Honorable Mention at the International Ceramic Competition in Mino (Japan, 2017). Her works are part of permanent museum collections in China, Taiwan, and Australia.
