Ever Green and Golden Brown!

Two new SMELT colors. Lots of testing. These two stayed.

Not every color we test makes it into the SMELT collection. And that's actually the point.

We don't launch a color because it's fun or pretty, but because it's genuinely good.
After extensive testing, two winners remained: Evergreen and Golden Brown.

Two colors, each with its own character.
And even more possibilities when you use them on different clay types, in different layer thicknesses, or layered over one another.

Why do you love SMELT?

"Because of the colors. And honestly also the lovely lady with fun videos and explanations 😉
Plus it's Belgian, and something different for a change compared to the Mayco/Amaco/Bots glazes you see everywhere."

There's no arguing about colors and tastes, but SMELT glazes are stable, strong glazes that are easy to mix according to the guidelines. They are beautiful, opaque glazes that you can play with.

Two colors. Four clay bodies. So much to discover.

The surface has a big influence on how a glaze looks. That's why, for a limited time, you'll get a small SMELT test set as a free gift with both launch kits.

The set includes five bisque-fired test tiles:

  • 2 x W11 white stoneware
  • 1 x Toffee by Sio-2
  • 1 x Red stoneware 354 by Sibelco

  • 1 x Black Terra Nigra

In the extra test video, Nora shows you how to use the test tiles.

This way you can immediately compare Evergreen and Golden Brown on white, warm, red, and black. Test one color on different clay bodies, play with layer thickness, or try an overlap. Note what you do and discover which combination you'll want to use on a larger piece later.

One glaze, four surfaces, and a different result to discover each time.

ANGIE

They were once my very first powder glazes, which made opening the kiln feel extra exciting, since it felt just that little bit more "made by myself."

But from the very first time I opened the kiln, and every time after, I fell in love instantly with the delicate colors that emerge from the powder color.

SMELT is een groeiende collectie.

We regularly add new glazes. Not because there needs to be something new every season, but because we only launch a color once we stand fully behind it. Every new color goes through months, and often years, of testing before it becomes part of the collection.
