I truly am a glaze nerd.

Give me tests, glaze trials, percentages, and stacks of test tiles, and I'm happy. I love experimenting endlessly until a glaze does exactly what I have in mind.

But I'm also well aware that not every ceramicist finds joy in that.

Most people just want to create. They want to throw beautiful bowls, build vases, or make unique pieces. They want to enjoy the process of making, without first having to take half a course in glaze chemistry.

That's why I developed SMELT.

Not just a collection of glazes, but a range that was tested for years in my own studio. Glazes with character, that are reliable and deliver beautiful results time and time again.

So that you have to test less... and have more time left to make ceramics.

Start with a test kit.
Every clay type reacts differently.
A glaze that looks very soft on white clay can suddenly become much more vivid on dark clay.

That's why we developed our test kits.
This way you get to know different SMELT colors on your own clay, in your own kiln, and with your own way of working. That gives you much more confidence before you buy larger packages.
